William “Will” G Nash, age 63, of Watertown, SD, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett will officiate. Music will be provided by Isaac Montemayor as pianist and Becky Sprouse as soloist. The service will be live streamed via our website.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 5-7 and prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Post #17 of the American Legion and Kampeska N.E. Det. #1079 of Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Kampeska N.E. Det. #1079. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Hegstrom, Kirk Schamens, Casey Berg, Patrick Anderson, Jonathan Schamens and Matt Wohlleber.
Will was born on April 7, 1960, in Aberdeen, SD, to Lee Nash and Frances M. (Ackley) Nash. He grew up in Twin Brooks, SD and graduated from Milbank High School in 1978. He attended National American University in Rapid City, SD majoring in Accounting. Will joined the US Marine Corps in 1983 and served eight years, he was honorably discharged in 1991. During his service he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and a Certificate of Commendation. He later returned to South Dakota and worked for Great Plains/Microsoft in Watertown for six years before moving to the Human Service Agency, where he was System’s Administrative for 18 years. He was currently working at WAPA, until his health forced him to retire in February of 2022.
On October 24, 2003, Will married Melissa Pulscher in Watertown, SD. He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Marine Corp League Det. # 1079, where he served as Commander for two terms and held a post on the state level as well. He was an avid pool player, loved to hunt, fish, camp, kayaking, cooking, smoking meats (prime rib, ribs and pulled pork were his specialties) and his dogs Ginger and Molly. Growing up in the Twin Brooks hills he dreamed of becoming a mountain man. He had many fond memories and stories about hunting, fishing and trapping in the area. His most favorite stories involved the Railroad’s Pinkerton men.
Will is survived by his wife, Melissa, Watertown, SD and their daughter Katie Nash, Watertown, SD; his daughter, Alicia (Elliott) Wohllebler, Strandburg, SD; two sons, Keeghan Nash, Amarillo, TX, Jordan Nash, Amarillo, TX; his mother Fran Giessiger of Willmar, MN; his father Lee Nash of Benson, AZ; two brothers, Wendell Nash, Willmar, MN, Dwight Nash, Benson, MN; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Will was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, several uncles and aunts, including his very special Aunt Katie (Nash) Bosmoe.
