Vivian Mack Obituary
Vivian (Kaul) Mack, age 83, of Leola, SD, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at a local care center. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, SD. Pastor Sara Sorensen will officiate.
Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Green Mound Cemetery in Leola, SD. Pallbearers are Taylor Stacey, Logan Stacey, Maryn Stacey and Jason Kaul.
Vivian Valinda Mack was born August 18th, 1936, at Ashley, ND, the daughter of John and Rose (Strobel) Kaul. The family later moved to Leola, SD, in 1942. Vivian attended Leola High School and graduated in 1954. On November 14, 1958, Vivian was united in marriage to Donald Mack and they resided in Leola. Don passed away suddenly on June 12, 1978.
Vivian attended Aberdeen School of Commerce for one year then started working for the McPherson County Highway Department in 1955 as a secretary/bookkeeper.
She held this position until 1982.
In 1983, Vivian was elected McPherson County Registrar of Deeds.
She held this position until her retirement in 2003.
Vivian later moved to Watertown to be near her family.
Vivian was very active in the Leola community, St. James Lutheran Church activities, the Star Extension Club and the Leola Rhubbard Celebrations. She enjoyed reading, gardening and loved to cook.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Jacklynn and husband Darrell Stacey, Watertown, SD; her grandchildren: Taylor Stacey, Sioux Falls, SD, Logan Stacey, Sioux Falls, SD, and Maryn Stacey, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Otto Kaul, Rapid City, SD, and Dave (Kay) Kaul, Black Hawk, SD; one sister, Esther Schanzenbach (Gordon) Lewis Center, OH; a brother-in-law, Ken Sabers of Rock Valley, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don; her parents, John and Rose Kaul; her sisters, Olivia Schaffer, Hilda Iszler and Rose Sabers; and her brothers, Erwin and Victor.
