Virginia Tabor, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Edgewood. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be live streamed via our website.
Burial will at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
Virginia was born on March 29, 1934, in Altamont, SD, to Arthur Peterson and Ellnore (Reich) Minor. She graduated from Watertown High School. Virginia worked for the Department of Social Services in Codington County before moving to Kansas where she starting working for the Salvation Army.
Virginia married Dorald “Don” Tabor and the couple moved to Japan where she worked in the Officers Quarter for the Salvation Army. The couple moved to California where she worked for General Mills and the county offices.
When the couple retired they moved to Arizona and also bought a house in Badger, SD where they would spend the summers in South Dakota and the winters in Arizona. When Don got sick and passed away, Virginia moved back to Badger full time.
Virginia is survived by her step-children, Janice Waters, Andrea Scheib, and Rich Tabor; brother-in-law, Dan Waldner; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Louise Johnson, and Freda Waldner; and one niece, Lori Larson.
