Virginia M. Jensen

Virginia Jensen, age 100, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at her home. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown. Father Richard Baumberger will be the celebrant.  Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as organist and Julie Kjenstad as song leader.  

Visitation will be at the church in Watertown on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a. m. 

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Active pallbearers will be Anthony Block, David Jensen, Corey Schwinger, Ryan Jensen, Kyle Jensen, and Joseph Jensen.

Virginia was born on January 23, 1924, in Ipswich, SD, to Stephen and Hannah (Bastian) Weber.  She attended school through the eighth grade at Holy Cross Catholic School and graduated from the Ipswich High School in 1942.  Virginia worked for the South Dakota Employment Service from 1943-1946 during World War II. 

Virginia married Harold Jensen on October 8, 1946 in Ipswich, SD.  The couple was married for sixty four years and eight months until Harold’s passing on June 16, 2011.  She worked at JC Penny’s and Kmart until her retirement.

She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and Rosary Makers.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed cooking and reading. 

Virginia is survived by her children, Linda (Robert) Baker, of OH, Steve (Diane) Jensen, of MN, Robert (Monie) Jensen, of MN, Diane (Ralph) Kluckman, of SD, Richard (Cheri) Jensen, of MN, Mary Ann (Warren) Wiesner, of SD, Gerald (Sue) Jensen, of MN, Teresa (Jerome) Goehring, of SD, Deborah (Van) Schwinger, of SD, and Brian (Lori) Jensen, of SD; one brother, Robert Weber, of MN; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son Dewayne Jensen; granddaughter Jill; grandson Jeremiah; her parents Stephen and Hannah; brothers Earl, Leo, Dan, and Alvin.
