Theresa “Dawn” Behlings, 66, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at 8:10 am, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dawn was born on July 17, 1959, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to John “Jack” and Lavonne “Bonnie” Edrich.
Dawn was a proud mother to six children: Shantel (Jared) of Lennox, South Dakota; Sonja (Paul) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Sarah (Justin) of Watertown, South Dakota; John (Brooklynn) of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Shawna (Cody) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Skylar of Phoenix, Arizona. She was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Jaylen (Melanie), Nadia, Autum, Maylee, Koby, Cooper, Madison, Ezra, Jaxon, Hazel, Brayton, and Mary; three great-grandchildren: Dallas, Dawsyn, and Baby D.
Dawn shared 17 loving years with Steve Behlings before they were united in marriage on January 24, 2020. Through their union, Dawn was blessed with two bonus children: Matt Behlings of Brookings, South Dakota, and Rachel Belgarde of Montana.
Dawn found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. She loved camping with her husband and her beloved dog, Harley, especially when the sun was shining. She cherished time spent with all the pieces of her big family. Dawn had a deep love for each of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her grand dogs. When Steve took the time to dust off the bike, they enjoyed long rides together.
Dawn is survived by her parents-in-law, Lyle and Janet Behlings; her husband, Steve; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her sister Deanna; her sisters-in-law Renae, Loreen, Peggi, and Melissa; her brother-in-law Eric; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” and Lavonne “Bonnie” Edrich; her sister Debbie; her brother John; her dogs Bullet, and Copper.
Dawn will be remembered for her loving heart, strength, strong will, and feisty attitude. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. To know her was to love her.
Visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on April 20th, 2026 at 12:30pm with memorial service to follow at 1:30pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend to honor and celebrate Dawn’s life. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.
