Terry Miller

Terry Miller, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System. A prayer service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. This service will be livestreamed via our website.

Visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Terry was born May 25th, 1948 to Leo and Ruby (Rhinehart) Miller in Watertown, SD. He spent his youth growing up on the Miller family farm near Garden City, SD with his parents, older brother and younger sister. It was on the family farm where Terry’s dream to one day farm began. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from the Diesel Tech program at Lake Area Vocational Technical School in 1972.

In 1972, Terry was united in marriage to Karen Klatt. To this union they were blessed with four children; Scott, Marlena, Nathan and Kayla. It was during these early years that Terry, along with his brother Larry, began farming near Garden City as “Miller Brothers, Inc.”. In winters he would often work for local potato growers.

After farming, Terry began his 12-year career at McCain Foods in Clark, SD.

Terry was united in marriage to Darla Pagel March 13th, 1998 where he gained a step-daughter, Laura Isack. Terry and Darla made their home in Watertown.

Terry enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He was quietly proud of his children’s accomplishments and enjoyed being a grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and especially fishing with his son, Nathan in his later years. Terry took great pride in his lawn and in making sure it was always looking its best.

Terry discovered a genuine pleasure in traveling with his wife, Darla in retirement. They took several bus tours where they visited such places as Missouri, Wisconsin and even Canada.

He is survived by his wife Darla Pagel-Miller, his children Rev. Scott Miller of Indianapolis, IN; Marlena (Mark) Spurbeck of St. Louis, MO; Nathan Miller of Watertown, SD; Kayla (Justin) Aden of Clear Lake, SD, and Laura Isack of Forest Lake, MN. Five grandchildren; Elijah & Micah Spurbeck, Hunter, Addelynne and Magnolia Aden. Sister Sheri (Rodney) Foster of Garden City, SD and nephew Jason Foster and family, also of Garden City, SD.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Leo and Ruby Miller, brother L. Larry Miller and son-in-law Jeff Isack.
