Ted G. Laird

Funeral services for Ted G. Laird, age 65, of Watertown, SD will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007 in the Ward Funeral Home, Linn, KS. Pastor Phil Morris will officiate. Ted passed away on May 7, 2007 at a hospital in Watertown. Burial will be in the Linn City Cemetery, Linn, KS. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Pastor Mark Chapman will officiate. Ted was born on October 4, 1941 at Tacoma, WA to Roy and Bernice (Porter) Laird. When he was an infant, the family moved to Garden City, KS. Ted attended and graduated from high school there. He served three years in the U.S. Army and then graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Ted married Shirley Young on March 29, 1969 at Wichita, KS. After marriage, he worked with the Federal Government as a Bank Examiner from 1972 to 1999. He retired and moved to Watertown, SD in 1999 to be near family. Ted was a member of the Masonic Temple and Shrine in Kansas. Ted is survived by his wife, Shirley, and several cousins, including Leland and his wife, Ruth Porter, of Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
