Steven "Steve" P. Bayles

Steven “Steve” P. Bayles, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his residence in Watertown.  

Steve was born on July 8, 1965, to Russell and Sarah (Dormady) Bayles in Watertown, SD.  He graduated from Watertown High School with the class of 1983 and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in business at USD. 

Following his education, Steve worked as an insurance adjuster in Sioux Falls, before returning to Watertown.  He owned the Sidetrack in Florence for several years, and then went on to work at several establishments in Watertown. 

On September 21, 2000, Steve married Amy Engels at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.   The couple was blessed with their daughter Alexx, who was Steve’s pride and joy. 

Steve attended all of Alexx’s volleyball games no matter where they were at and he enjoyed golfing.  He also loved cheering on the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Wild.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Alexx Bayles, of Sioux Falls; his mother, Sarah Bayles, of Watertown; one sister, Melissa (Tim) Collins, of Watertown; one brother, Mark (Laura) Bayles, of Watertown; and two nephews, Tucker Bayles, of Sioux Falls, and Sean Collins, of Watertown.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Russell.

The family is having a Celebration of Life Remembrance Gathering on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 2-5 p.m. at Cloud 9 in Watertown, SD.
