Shirley Ramse

Shirley Arlene Ramse was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 9 at the age of 75 years at the Avantara nursing home in Arlington, SD. She was born on April 18, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Gerald Aasboe and Evelyn (Anderson) Aasboe.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul Ramse, her children; Karen Ramse, Nathan (Jen) Ramse, Daniel Ramse, Joshua Ramse, and her sister Joan Aasboe.

She is predeceased by her parents, Gerald Aasboe and Evelyn (Anderson) Aasboe. 

Shirley went to Osakis Public School where she graduated from high school. Then she moved to Fergus Falls, MN where she attended Lutheran Brethren Bible School. After Bible school, she traveled to Sweden with her mom, Evelyn, to visit relatives. She was blessed to see and visit with her grandfather Andrew Anderson’s brothers and sisters. Shirley was introduced to Paul Ramse by Bonnie Bundy (Pastor Burton Bundy’s wife) at the Grace Lutheran Brethren church in Bismarck, ND. They were married on February 12, 1977 at Elim Lutheran Church in Osakis, MN. They moved to Watertown, SD where they spent the next 45 years. They lived outside of Watertown where they raised their four children whom she loved dearly. They were very active in their church and loved fellowshipping with other believers. She enjoyed several different activities throughout her life including sewing, quilting, baking Christmas cookies and Swedish meatballs at Christmas time, spending time with friends from church, reading, canning fresh veggies from the garden, and planting flowers in the spring. A highlight was traveling to Germany to visit her daughter, Karen, in 2014, then traveling to Norway and Sweden to visit with relatives.

A visitation will be held at 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel, 1311 4th Street NE in Watertown. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on June 17, 2022 at Watertown Christian Church, 201 Golf Course Road in Watertown. 

Honorary Pallbearers are the Gideons. Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Gideons International, PO Box 1472 Watertown, SD 57201.
