Sharon was born on April 5, 1942, to Leo and Gertrude (Wagner) Gill, in Bristol, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She grew up on her dad and mom's farm and helped with any type of farm work, plowing, drilling and cultivating. Before tractors Sharon and her dad used horses. Sharon could drive any kind of farm equipment. When she graduated from Bristol High School, one of her jobs was driving school bus. She really enjoyed picking up the kids at different places walking up the driveway because the road was too deep with snow to drive the bus.
Sharon went to the School of Commerce in Aberdeen, SD and taking the course in bookkeeping. She moved back to Bristol and went to work for Wheat Growers Elevator as their secretary. The one job she really loved was working as manager on a 10,000 acre ranch in Buffalo, SD, where she really enjoyed the antelope. She enjoyed being outside, especially fishing and hunting pheasants. On the ranch you could see flowers blooming for miles. She saw beauty where no one else could.
She loved to play cards with her friends, nieces and nephews, and enjoyed always feeding the birds and squirrels (Slinkys). She also loved baseball, canning, crosswords, and could tell jokes endlessly. One of Sharon's biggest pastimes was reading her storybooks. Sharon had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. She never met a stranger because they all became her friend. She had kind words for everyone.
Sharon is survived by two sisters, Lois Zumm of Fox Lake, WI and Cleo Esche of Watertown, SD; many nieces and nephews, whom she cherished; two step-daughters, Shawn (Jamie) Ludens of Spearfish, SD and Kathie Val Dez of Wheaton, MN; and last but not least, Katie Rear of Clear Lake, SD, her best friend and companion.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother and two sisters.
