Scott McGuire Obituary

 

Scott A. McGuire, age 57, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, ND.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Services will be led by Tom Ries.  The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.  The service will be Live-Streamed and Facebook Live via the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel website.

Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Monday from 5-7 p.m.

Burial will be at South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.  Military honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard.  Active pallbearers will be: David McGuire, Chad McGuire, Jason Roling, Keith Peterson, Bryan Althoff, and Todd "Willie" Syhre.

Scott was born on May 29, 1964, in Watertown, to Robert McGuire and Sandra (Stanton) Carr.  He graduated from high school in Mason City, IA, and enlisted in the US Army.  Scott proudly served with the 503rd Maintenance Co. at Ft Bragg, in Fayetteville, NC.

On February 14, 1987, Scott married Donna Parrish in Fayetteville, NC.  They moved to Watertown, where Scott drove over the road for many years for the US Postal Service. He was most recently employed as a driver for XPO Logistics.

Scott loved classic cars, motorcycles, street stock racing, and drag racing.  He enjoyed attending car shows and poker runs. Scott will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.  He had a kind and compassionate spirit, and would drop everything to help someone.

Scott is survived by his wife, Donna, of Watertown; three sons: Steven and Christopher McGuire, both of Watertown, and Bryan Parrish of Cameron, NC; two grandchildren, Keanen and Chase McGuire, both of Brookings, SD; his parents, Robert McGuire (Char Plucker) of Sioux Falls, SD and Sandra Carr of Watertown, SD; his mother-in-law, Jane Parrish of Cameron, NC; four brothers; David (Machelle) McGuire of Watertown, Chad McGuire of Mason City, IA, Jason Roling of Watertown, and Bryan Althoff of Sioux Falls, SD.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandson, Christian McGuire; his stepfather, Jack Carr; his father-in-law, Steve Parrish; his grandparents: Lyle and Gladys Stanton, and  Bob and Charlotte McGuire; and one brother, Jeffrey McGuire.
