Sandra Tierney

Sandra Jean Tierney, age 80, of Watertown, SD, went to be with Jesus in her eternal Home on May 19th, 2025, at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Chaplain Scott Dempster will officiate. Music will be provided by Becky Tierney.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Sandra was born on November 13th, 1944, in Elgin, NE, to Arthur and Evelyn (Johns) Tierney.

She loved Jesus and faithfully attended church at the Evangelical Wesleyan Church for many years. Her church family will remember the times during testimony time when Sandra would stand and declare “The devil’s a liar!”.

Sandra worked for New Horizons in Watertown. One of her favorite duties was dishwashing.  Sandra and her sister Linda were provided a loving home by Cindy and Ron Filipek after the death of their mother, living with them as a family for 29 years. Their care and kindness are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten. Anyone driving by their home would often see Sandra and Linda sitting on the porch swing, watching the world go by.

Sandra is survived by three bothers: Gaylen Tierney of Watertown, SD, Jim (Linda) Tierney of Oklahoma City, OK, and Terry Tierney of Colorado Springs, CO; Ron and Cindy Filipek and their daughters, Gina Brist and Tiffany Parker of Watertown, SD; a nephew, Bryan (Becky) Tierney, and their children of South Shore, SD; and other nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.

She will be missed by all of her friends and those that worked with her. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Maynard Tierney; and C. Daniel Tierney, and one sister-in-law, Carol Tierney.
