Roy was born November 13, 1962 to Johnny and Arlene Keiser in Lake Preston, SD. He graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1981.

Roy married Teri Liebsch in 1990. Their daughter Megan Jean was born in 1993.

On July 7, 2007 Roy and Kathy Urban were united in marriage at Lake Poinsett. They enjoyed 16 years together living in Arlington and at their campground at Lake Herman.

After high school, Roy worked for his dad as a driver for Keiser Trucking. In 1990, he began working for Interstate Battery in Arlington as a route manager. He was proud to be a part of the Interstate Battery family for 33 years

Roy loved to be busy and work hard, but always made time to have fun. He loved golfing, kayaking, horses, roping, NASCAR and Bobby Labonte, the Dallas Cowboys, and having a cold beer with friends and family. Camping at the lake was one of his favorite things to do. The most important thing in life to Roy were his family and friends. He would help out in any way he could including driving grain truck each year during harvest for the Tolzin family. An important contribution to the community that Roy was proud of was serving as a volunteer firefighter for the Arlington Fire Department. His most prized possession was his blue 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and he loved taking Kathy for drives with the top down.

Roy is survived by his wife Kathy; his daughter Megan (Evan) Walterman of Rapid City; his step-daughters Angel (Nate) Harry of Sioux Falls, Trisha (Shawn) Barron of Marion, Amber Urban of Canistota, and Amanda Urban of Sioux Falls; his two grandsons, Eli and Noah Walterman, twelve step-grandchildren, and one step-great-granddaughter; his mother Arlene Nelson, his step-mother Donna Keiser; his siblings, Carla (Dale) Jakeway, Caryn Isaacson, Roger (Val) Keiser, Carol (Paul) Maycroft; his step-siblings, Tony (Paula) Nelson, Kurt (Jodi) Nelson, Anita (Brian) Detmers, Jimmy Jensen III, Curt (Linda) Jensen; mother-in-law Dottie Martinez, brother-in-law Jerry (Donna) Larson, sister-in-law, Nancy Petersen, his fur baby Rowdy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
