Ronald Koosman Obituary

Ronald Lee “Ron” Koosman, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.  Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.  Rev. David Nerdig will officiate.  Music will be provided by A.J. Sherrill as organist with Robbyn Givens as soloist. Urn bearers will be Tasha Paulsen, Shayna Ragatz, Nik Sunde, and Meg Sunde.  The service will be live-streamed via the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel Facebook page.

Visitation will be at Crawford Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 5-7 p.m.

Ron was born on May 26, 1943, in Appleton, MN, to Reinhart and Sophie (Schuerman) Koosman.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Moyer Township.  He graduated from Holloway High School in Holloway, MN, in 1961.

On March 6, 1965, Ron married the love of his life, Diane Latzke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway, MN.  They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.  To this union, two children were born, son, Jeff on December 26, 1967, and daughter, Michelle on May 14, 1971.

Ron started his life long career in 1965, at Northwest Telelect in Hopkins, MN.  He continued working in the utility industry until 2013, when he retired as sales manager for Dueco.  Ron was very instrumental in the utility industry for 48 years, developing many close relationships with his customers.  He was a founding member of the National Utility Equipment Show, which was held in Sioux Falls, SD for many years.

He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.  Ron loved the time he and Diane spent at their home at South Whitlock.  He treasured time with his family, sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.  In his free time, you could find him playing a game of cards with his buddies.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Diane, of Watertown; daughter, Michelle (Kelly) Sunde, of Watertown; daughter-in-law, Michele Koosman, of Revillo, SD; 4 grandchildren: Tasha (Nick) Paulsen, Shayna (Eric) Ragatz, Nikolas Sunde, and Meg Sunde; 1 great-grandchild, Charlotte Rose Ragatz; and sisters: Evelyn Begley, of Bloomfield, CO, and Judy Koosman (Jack Sexton), of Plymouth, MN; brothers-in-law: Bob Mesenbrink of Cross Lake, MN, and Brad (Kathy) Latzke of Battle Lake, MN; and his special friends, Joel and Donna Winkelman.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Koosman; his parents; parents-in-law; sister, Barbara Mesenbrink; brother-in-law, Craig Latzke, and sister-in-law, Deb Latzke.
