Robert “Bob” J. Miller age 83 of Watertown, SD, died Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Doughtery Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Services will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Scott Dempster will officiate. The family is requested to be at the chapel by 1:00 pm for a prayer service.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert “Bob” was born September 9, 1940, in Watertown, SD, to Fred and Mamie (Zeller) Miller. Bob graduated from Watertown High School in 1960 and entered the US Air Force June 1, 1960. He served for four years being Honorably Discharged June 5, 1964.
Bob started working construction doing brick work in Watertown where he assisted in building a couple of the banks. He started working at Sharp Automotive in 1971 in the detailing area. He married Beverly Van Hyft August 3, 1974 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown and continued working at Sharps until 1988. Bob started working at Smith Equipment where he worked until retiring in 2008.
Bob was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed collecting and building model toy airplanes, keep his lawn detailed to perfection and the snow cleared when necessary. He also enjoyed model helicopters and flying them. He loved to read and cook and then especially eat what he had made. His coffee and his pets were a priority to him, especially Gizmo.
Bob is survived by his wife, Beverly, Watertown, SD; one son, Lance Miller, Watertown, SD; one daughter, Emily Miller, Fargo, ND; one sister, Sister Marietta Miller, OSB, Watertown, SD; special sister-in-law, Karen Miller, Watertown, SD and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
