Robert "Bob" T. Drevecky, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Watertown, SD. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown. Pastor Brad Birtell will officiate. Music will be provided by Dawn LaMee as organist and Lori Fox providing special music.
Visitation will be at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be John Jurrens, Ted Drevecky, Charlie Drevecky, Jack Johnson, Cory Stemwedel, and Kasey Drevecky.
Bob was born on August 11, 1934, in Walsh County, ND, to Theodore and Emily (Hendrickson) Drevecky. He attended Adams High School in North Dakota and graduated in 1952. He joined the United States Army in the Armor Division as a tank driver from 1954-1956. When he got out of the Army he went to State School of Science in ND for electronics. Bob was the very first TV repairman in Yankton, SD at Montgomery Wards where he met the love of his life.
On August 5, 1959, Bob married Mary Jean Garrigan in Yankton, SD. The couple started raising their family while Bob was still employed at Montgomery Wards before being transferred to Watertown, SD. Bob then went on to work at Cook’s Office Machines, retiring after twenty-two years. During his retirement, Bob worked in maintenance at the Ramkota Hotel and as a greeter at Walmart.
In Bob’s younger years, he enjoyed bowling, metal detecting with Mary Jean, collecting coins, and gardening. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Bob loved to watch his favorite programs of Young and The Restless and Gunsmoke. He was baptized and confirmed at Adam’s Mountain Lutheran Church and a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown for over 50 years. Donny Garrigan was a bonus son to Bob.
Bob is survived by his children, Pamela (Gary) Morris, of Watertown, SD, Mary Pat Drevecky, of Watertown, SD, Daniel Drevecky, of Watertown, SD, Bobbi Drevecky, of Sioux Falls, SD, David (Melissa) Drevecky, of Norfolk, NE; Donny Garrigan, of Pacifica, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chad DeWall, Colleen DeWall, Haidyn DeJean, Hudson DeJean; Jessica (Cory)Stemwedel, Lydia Stemwedel; Ted Drevecky, Charlie Drevecky; Amber (Jack) Johnson, Blake Fernau, Lennox Johnson, Ruby Johnson; Emily Drevecky; Kasey (Jade) Drevecky; John (Theresa) Jurrens, Macy Jurrens, Allison Jurrens, and Jack Jurrens; brother, James (Kathy) Drevecky, of Adams, ND; brother-in-law, Dennis (Trudy) Garrigan, of Moville, IA; sisters, JoAnn Okeson, of Park River, ND, Theda (James) Rye, of Mountain Home, ID, and Nancy (Loren) Kadlac, of Grand Forks, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean; his parents; daughter, Marilyn Jurrens; son-in-law, Scott Jurrens; and great-granddaughter, Sierra DeWall.
Bob was a kind, humble, and proud family man. His presence was felt by many. In honor of how Bob usually ended visits or phone calls; “I’ll be here.”
