Robert "Bert" A. Lenning

Robert “Bert” A. Lenning, age 61, of Watertown, SD, passed away at his home on Friday, November 3, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett will officiate.

Visitation will take place prior to services at the chapel on Thursday, November 9, 2023, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Robert was born on June 11, 1962, in Watertown, SD, to Vernon and Jean (Anderson) Lenning. He was the 5th born out of six children and the youngest boy in the family.  He was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. He attended school in Watertown and graduated from Lake Area Vo-Tech in 1982.  After graduating, Bert moved to Sioux Falls where he lived and worked for over ten years. He later moved back to Watertown. Throughout his life, Bert worked as a machinist and did maintenance.

Bert enjoyed hunting with his brother and fishing with his friends. His passion was working on cars and he loved his 1962 Pontiac Firebird. Bert enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and was referred to as “Uncle Bert”.

Bert is survived by his mother, Jean Lenning; his brother, Richard Lenning; his sisters, Donna Lenning, Diane Stanton and Nancy Borkhuis; and three nieces and eight nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Lenning, and his sister, Wanda Chandler.
