Funeral services for Robert L."Bob" Born, age 81, of Hazel , SD , will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2011 , at St. Martin 's Lutheran Church in Watertown , SD.
Rev. Keith Petersen will officiate.
Music will be provided by Karen Mischke as organist with Dave Boehnke as soloist.
Bob passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 , at Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls , SD.
Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Grover, SD.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob's grandchildren: Terra Larsen, Jerod Larsen, Wade Larsen, Trent Larsen, Adam (Amber) Born, Miranda Born, Sarah (Brandon) Schaffer, Jordan Gorm, Erica Paulsen, and Rebecca Paulsen.
Active pallbearers will be: Brian Kuhlman, Mike McNamara, Eldon Peterson, Ronnie Johnson, Chris Coplan, and Randy Frederick.
Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Thursday.
The family is requested to meet at the church on Thursday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Bob was born on February 10, 1930 , in Watertown , SD , to Charles F. and Ella (Hallauer) Born.
He grew up on the family farm west of Grover.
He attended country school #50, Thomas High School , and went on to graduate from the School of Agriculture in Brookings , SD , in 1948.
Bob worked for area farmers and for Swift & Company.
On September 4, 1953 , Bob married Shirley Christman in Grover, SD.
He served as an ASCS committee man for 30 years.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and held the positions of chairman, trustee, and elder for many years. After the church closed, he transferred to St. Paul 's Lutheran Church in Henry , SD.
Bob farmed and lived on the family farm for 78 years until moving into Watertown just recently.
He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people.
Bob is survived by his wife; three daughters: Joyce (Mike) Paulsen of Henry, SD, Janice (Neal) Larsen of Watertown, SD, and Brenda (Steve) Gorm of Sheridan, WY; two sons: Curtis Born of Hazel, SD, and David (Shelley) Born of Sheridan, WY; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren: Asher, Ezra, Corbin, Caylee, and Caden.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Dustin Larsen; his parents; and two brothers, Maynard and Donald.
