Rickey "Rick" Roberts

Rick Roberts, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his residence.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD, Pastor Carlene Rhody will officiate. Lunch served at Grace Lutheran to follow internment.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Small, Doug Meseberg and Rick Ward. Active pallbearers will be Dave Meseberg, Mike O’Hara, Rod Swoboda, Dave Even, Mike Weber and Gordie West.

Rickey "Rick" Roberts was born on February 18, 1954, to Alvin and Irene Roberts in Watertown, SD. Rick attended Watertown High School and graduated in 1972. Upon graduation, he spent many years as a skilled carpenter. He later moved on to Terex Utilities, where he retired after 32 years as an assembler.

Known for his kindness, Rick was a man who deeply valued his relationships, evident in the love and care he showed towards his family and friends. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Heather and Kaitlyn, and took immense joy in spoiling his grandchildren. Often calling his granddaughter his little princess. 

Rick had a passion for the outdoors. His life was spent in the field hunting, or on the water fishing. These hobbies were not just pastimes but a way for him to connect with those he loved and the environment around him. He shared these passions with his children, with his legacy to be passed on to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his true loves, his girls, Heather (Weston) Teresiak of Oak Grove, MN; Kaitlyn (Adam) Stonebarger of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Diane Hanson of Watertown, SD and Dixie (Rod) Swoboda, and five grandchildren.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Irene Roberts and his brother, Harry Roberts.
