Rebecca "Becky" J. Peterson, age 56, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at her residence. A prayer service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown with visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.
Becky was born on September 27th, 1969, in Westby, Montana to Raymond "Pete" Peterson and Janice (Froehle) Peterson.
As an Air Force brat, she lived and enjoyed time in Anchorage, Alaska; Finley, North Dakota; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Groton, South Dakota, before the family finally settled for good in Watertown.
While younger, Becky enjoyed spending time taking care of the horses, petting the cats, and spending time with family. In high school, she was the one who knew how to throw a good party.
Becky graduated from Watertown in 1987. In January of 1990, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During her enlistment, she stationed all over the world, including Rota, Spain where she had her first child, Jeremy Peterson, on June 4th, 1993. She also spent some of her time in Sicily, Maine, and Florida.
Becky left the military in September 1995, to settle down in Watertown and be close to her family. On October 17th, 2000, Becky had her second son, Brandon Peterson.
Becky loved spending time with her family, especially the Fourth of July and Christmas. She looked forward to those days the most. She was a very avid reader, partaking in book challenges and forum discussions over books. Once she ran out of room in the closet to stack books, she ended up switching to Kindles and never stopped reading.
Becky loved watching movies with her son Jeremy. They would always try to guess the end of the House episode, because they watched them so many times together.
In her free time, she loved nothing more than doing cross stitch on her computer, watching law podcasts (especially LawNerd), still reading/listening to audio books, and spending time with her sons.
Becky is survived by her two sons, Jeremy Peterson and Brandon Peterson, of Watertown, SD; her sister, Laura (Scott) Bohls, of Watertown, SD; her nephews, Hunter and Hayden Bohls; her aunt, Rosemary (Tom) Eisenbeisz; and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Also her babies: Princess, Trouble, Nuisance (NuNu), Munchkin, and Blacky.
Becky has reunited with her parents, Pete and Janice Peterson; and twin brothers, Charles Ray and Lloyd Thomas.
