Randy E. Sangl, age 69, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Janet Miller will officiate.
Randy E. Sangl, was born in Jackson, Minnesota, to Robert and Virginia Sangl.
A 1974 graduate of Watertown High School, Randy didn’t wait long to serve his country, joining the military in 1975. He eventually settled into a long career in plumbing, starting at Taecker Plumbing. Randy worked for Taecker Plumbing for many years before becoming a self-employed plumber, though many in Watertown might remember him for a different "first": he was the city's very first pizza delivery man, hauling pies for Whiz’s Pizza.
On January 5, 1980, Randy married the love of his life, Joanna. Though Joanna preceded him in death, their bond, along with the Maynard family, remained a defining part of his life. Randy was a true man’s man who found his peace in nature. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or simply spending time outdoors, he was in his element. When he wasn't in the field, he was likely cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins, or settling in to watch a classic John Wayne film.
Randy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanna; his parents, Robert and Virginia; and his brother, Terry, parents-in-law, Ralph and Elaine Maynard; sister-in-law, Carol Fuller, and brother-in-law, O.B. Ray.
His legacy lives on through his son, John; his sister, Patsy; and his brother, Rob (Leah) Sangl, sister-in-law Nancy, and his partner Carol; Carol’s sons, Travis (Megan) and Lukas; and her grandson Hayden, along with many friends and extended family members, including in-laws, Joel Maynard, Mary Maynard (Phill Erwin), Kristi Maynard (Tim Olderr), Jeanette (Gregg) Nelson, and Sharon Ray, and Dick Fuller.
