Phyllis Stromseth Obituary
Phyllis A. (Mrs. Albin) Stromseth, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at a local care center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Friendship Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Arnold will officiate. Music will be provided by Laura Arnold as organist and soloist. The family is requested to meet by 1:30 at the church for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Phyllis's grandchildren; Elizabeth Hoff, Garrett Stromseth, Hannah Stromseth, Kara Benson and Mark Stromseth. Active pallbearers will be: Gary Randall, Gary Stromseth, Scott Gramberg, Chris Erickson and Darwin Stromseth.
Phyllis was born on August 16, 1940, to Martin and Gena (Flattum) Gramberg, in Webster, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bergan Lutheran Church. She attended Country School Lura #1 in Grant County through the 8th grade.
On July 10, 1957, Phyllis was united in marriage to Norman Stromseth at Waubay, SD. To this union four children were born, Randy, Brenda, Dean and Ross. The couple divorced and on June 21, 1969, Phyllis married Lenord Suhr in Watertown. They had two children, Lynnette and Jason. On February 17, 1996, Phyllis married Albin Stromseth.
Phyllis worked for various businesses in Watertown, then moved to Brookings and worked for 3M for twenty years. In 1994 Phyllis moved back to Watertown and worked for Stromseth Construction for fifteen years until ill health forced her to retire in 2010. Phyllis enjoyed reading, shopping for yard ornaments, landscaping and mowing the yard. She collected many different items. Her favorite thing to do was spoiling her children and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Albin; her children: Dean (Connie) Stromseth of Hutchinson, MN, Ross Stromseth of Sioux Falls, SD, Lynnette Suhr and Jason Suhr, both of Watertown, SD; four step-children; Patty (Ken) Henning of Harrisburg, SD, Mark (Jennifer) Stromseth, Darwin (Mary) Stromseth, both of Watertown, SD and Brian Stromseth of Timnath, CO; five grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Violet Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Randy, one brother, Clarence Gramberg; one infant sister, Clara Gramberg; her brother-in-law, Clarence Davidson; her sister-in-law, Beverly Gramberg; her nephew, Kelly Gramberg; one great-niece, Becky Erickson; and two step-grandsons.
