Phyllis J. Norgaard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the heart of her family, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and hospitality.
Born on February 8, 1944, in Thomas, South Dakota, to George and Marie (Pearson) Urevig. Phyllis grew up in the Lake Norden area and attended school there. In February 26, 1961, she married Daryl Norgaard, and together they built a life centered on family and community.
Phyllis and Daryl were blessed with four children: Patricia (Tom) Kincaid, Peggy (Terry) Andersen, Jeffrey (Trina) Norgaard, and Penny Burgess.
Known for her strong work ethic, Phyllis owned and operated the Badger Café for several years and later worked in local factories and at the Lake Norden Creamery before retiring.
After retirement, she devoted herself to the things she loved most—spending time with family, sewing, cooking, baking, and quilting with the church ladies. Over the years, her kitchen was the gathering place for countless family memories, and she became especially famous for her caramel rolls, which were eagerly anticipated and lovingly shared.
More than anything, Phyllis will be remembered as the matriarch of her family. Her steady presence, generous spirit, and unwavering love created a foundation that will continue to guide generations to come.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the family she treasured, and the many lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
Phyllis is survived by her children Patricia (Tom) Kincaid, Peggy (Terry) Andersen, Jeffrey (Trina) Norgaard, and Penny Burgess. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy. Brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ronald (Linda) Urevig and Bob and (Clea) Urevig.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Daryl Norgaard, parents, George and Marie Urevig, brothers, Wayne Urevig, Darrell Urevig, son-in-law, Terry Andersen, granddaughter, Kerri Andersen.
