Patty A. Thorson

Patty Thorson, age 48, of Florence, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, at Faulkton Care Center after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Cornerstone Church in Watertown. Pastor Mark Tracy will officiate. 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Burial will be at the Castlewood Cemetery in Castlewood, SD. Active pallbearers will be Landan Thorson, Elise Thorson, Isaac Thorson, Chase Thorson, Jayson Dufek, Zach Dufek, and Kylie Olson.

Patty was born on October 5, 1975, to Steve and Ann (Mohr) Olson in Watertown, SD, where she grew up and graduated from Watertown High School.

Patty married Ryan Thorson from Florence, and the couple raised three children: Brooke, Evan, and Sean. She worked various jobs in Watertown, but her most important one was being a wonderful mother. She never missed an activity with her children, whether it was ball games, beauty pageants, or dance recitals. You would see Patty there with her pride bursting at the seams. Along with her love for flowers, she had a love for Jesus and her church family. She loved hosting the Thorson hunt in October at the farm and couldn’t wait to see all the cousins.

Patty is survived by her husband Ryan Thorson of Florence, SD; her daughter Brooke (Cody) Hoff, of Florence, SD; two sons, Evan and Sean Thorson, of Florence, SD; her father Steve (Gwen) Olson, of Watertown, SD; three brothers-in-law, Jay (LeeAnne) Dufek, of Castlewood, SD; Dan (Rachelle) Thorson, of Watertown, SD; Matt (Kim) Thorson, of Watertown, SD; one sister-in-law, Nancy Olson, of Webster, SD; mother-in-law, Dee (Lamar) Thorson, of Watertown, SD; and three grandchildren, Landree Hoff, Haisley Hoff, and Truett Hoff, all of Florence, SD.

Patty was preceded in death by her mother Ann Olson, grandmother Lillian Lane, sister Michelle Dufek, brother Steve Olson, niece Macie Olson, and father-in-law Larry Thorson.
