Nathan, or Nate the Great, was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, and the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits. He loved watching, going, and talking about sports. He attended many SDSU football games, including the frigid semi-final game against Montana State last season with his brother Travis, brother-in-law Adam, and nephew Oliver—Go, Rabbits! While he loved sports, he loved spending time with his family even more, especially his little man TJ who Nate helped raise since birth. Somehow Nate made each of us feel so loved. We will miss Nathan’s jovial and caring presence.
He was born in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota July 15th, 1978 and grew up in the South Dakota towns of Fedora, Lake Preston, Huron, and Agar. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in history and enjoyed keeping up with current events.
After graduation, Nathan spent most of his adult life advocating for people with special needs. He was inspired to help others by his Aunt Arleen who had her own intellectual disability. Nathan was grateful for his extended family of who he supported and worked alongside.
He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Wynn Clement (Nelson); his brothers, Scott and Travis Clement; his sisters, Becky Petersen (Adam Petersen) and Jessica Hotchkiss; his nephews, Joey Hotchkiss, Jesse Hotchkiss, Jack Hotchkiss, Oliver Petersen, and TJ Clement; his nieces Samantha Petersen and Khloe Clement; and his many wonderful uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Preceding in death are his grandparents, Aunt Arleen and Uncle Dennis L. Clement.
