Michael J. “Mike” Harger was born on December 4, 1963, and passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in De Smet, SD. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in De Smet. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. Pastor Jim Millman will officiate.
Mike was born in Hartford, WI, the son of Claire Scholler and Richard L. “Dick” Harger. He attended South Division High School in Milwaukee, WI.
He was a part of the Aughenbaugh farms for many years and enjoyed what he did very much. The farm was his second home and he never batted an eye when it came to being there from sunup to past sundown. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, boating, playing pool with his buddies, and was always ready to play a hand of cards with his buddy at their favorite hangout spot called, “The Roost”. He was a jack of all trades. He could tell you just about anything about cars, snowmobiles, or the stats on the last Green Bay Packers game. Mike was one of the biggest Green Bay Packers fans you’d find around. He was always supporting them, whether it be by his shirt or a hat. It didn’t matter to Mike if the Packers were winning or losing, they still were his team, and even though they couldn’t hear him through the TV, he made it known whether or not they were winning.
He will be remembered by when he walked into a room, he let you know he was there. He had a bright and bubbly personality, he always looked at the glass half full, rather than half empty. He walked with confidence and never let tough situations get him down. He never batted an eye when it came down to helping someone else out with a vehicle. Mike will be missed dearly by so many.
Mike is predeceased by his father, Richard L. “Dick” Harger; and his grandson, Ollyver Michael Goldammer.
Mike is survived by his life partner, April Walker; their daughter, Samantha Holmberg (Nathan Goldammer), of Mount Vernon, SD; his grandsons: Patrick Goldammer, and Izaiah Huehn; his mother, Claire Scholler, of Milwaukee WI, and step-father, Gilbert Lopez; his brothers: Tim (Faith) Harger, and Gil Lopez Jr.; his sisters: Cindy (Charles) Hill, and Cheryl (Joe) Chauklin; his aunts: Sandy (Nick) Pratl, and Fran (Jim) Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike had many friends and we know he will be missed by many and has touched many lives. This isn’t goodbye, this is see ya later. Fly High, Fly Fast.
