She is survived by her children: Loren (Emily Honke) Dessonville, Connie (Mark) Hill, and Diana (Thomas) Mudge; four grandchildren: Maggie (Philip) Klyce, Christopher Dessonville, Hollyn Mudge and Thomas Mudge, IV; and two great-grandchildren: Presley Klyce and Baker Klyce. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman, her sister Doris Lebert Kumm, her brother Robert Lebert, and her granddaughter Cassie Hill.
Margie lived within 30 miles of Watertown until the age of 85, when she moved to an independent living facility near her son, Loren, in Omaha. Earlier this year she moved to an assisted living facility near her daughter, Connie, in Marietta, Georgia where she resided until the time of her death.
Margie’s father died suddenly when she was 16. At age 18 she married Norman, 70 years ago this month. For the next 42 years Margie and Norman lived on farms near Castlewood and Garden City. After Norman turned 65, they retired from farming and moved to Watertown. Norman passed away in 2007.
Margie was a graduate of Watertown High School (’51), and later attended Northern State University in Aberdeen. Margie worked at the Garden City Public Schools, Clark Public Schools, and at the Western Area Power Authority (Dept. of Energy), where she received several achievement awards for her service. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Margie enjoyed gardening, reading, pinochle, and travel.
Visitation will be held on December 15th at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown from 12:00 to 2:00, immediately followed by a funeral service. Pallbearers are her daughter- and sons-in-law: Emily Honke, Mark Hill, Thomas Mudge III and her four grandchildren: Maggie Klyce, Christopher Dessonville, Hollyn Mudge and Thomas Mudge IV.
