Margaret C. Hill

Margaret C. Hill, age 97, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 27, 2022.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Watertown Presbyterian Church.  Rev. Richard Poppen will officiate.  Music will be provided by Rev. Richard Poppen accompanied by Marsha Bullis.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Friday.

Burial will be at the Rosehill Cemetery in Clark, SD.  Pallbearers will be David Hill, Ryan Hill, Greg Hill, Kim Young, Jeremy Hanson, Randy Hill and Doug LaMont.

Margaret was born on March 13, 1925, to Edward and Florence (Jones) Stanley, in Clark, SD.  She lived with her family on a farm in Darlington Township, Clark County, until her father passed away in 1942, when she was 17 years old.  She and her mother moved then moved to Clark.

Margaret was united in marriage to Wesley Hill on April 9, 1944.  They lived on the family farm, west of Willow Lake raising their children, Rick and Roxann, until 1986 when they moved to Watertown.  Together they managed Park Manor 81 Apartments until 1998 when they retired and moved to Wilkshire Apartments.  Wesley and Margaret celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2005.

Margaret enjoyed embroidering, puzzles and having coffee with friends.  She looked forward to spring each year as she could begin her special love for planting and caring for her flower garden, which she loved to be able to share with everyone.  Spending time with her family was very special to her.

Grateful for having shared in her life, Margaret is survived by her son, Rick Hill of Fremont, NE, and her daughter Roxy (Harry) Hanson of Vienna, SD; six grandchildren: David (Tammy) Hill, Bridget (Kim) Young, Ryan (Emily) Hill, Greg (Caroline) Hill, Jeremy (Jen Dougal) Hanson and Lisa (Matt Schull) Bauman; eleven great-grandchildren: Abigail and Elizabeth Hill, Kaitlin and Jacob Young, Wesley, Rowan and Greyson Hill, Jack and Megan Hill and Jacob and Caleb Bauman.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant sons; her parents; four brothers and one sister; and her daughter-in-law.
