Marcine Haugen

Marcine Haugen, age 93, of Wallace, SD, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Known to many as the “Donut Lady," Marcine was an ace in the kitchen peddling her delicious baked goods to all in the community.  Along with her daughters, she shared her many tasty recipes in a cookbook, “Marcine’s Home Cooking.” She was also a talented artist, capturing her beautiful garden through oil and China paintings. Marcine lent her talents through many jobs including as a saleswoman for Christmas Around the World, Aflac Insurance, Avon, and Stanley (and any more), in the delivery room at Sioux Valley Hospital, and as a cook at Maplewood Academy. Marcine was passionate about sharing her Seventh-day Adventist faith with others. When she spoke, others listened. Marcine had a larger-than-life personality, a trait she showed off in her famous appearance on the Price is Right, where she kissed Bob Barker right on the lips and took home both showcases.

A Celebration of Marcine’s life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Watertown, SD.  Pastor George Shaver will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Eric Wandersleben, Kevin Wandersleben, Brad Haugen, Brandon Haugen, Zachary Haugen, and Brian Haugen.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, rural Henry, SD.  

Marcine is survived by her five children; Kathy (Buell) Fogg, Denise (Walter) Wandersleben, Darrell (Joan) Haugen, Bruce (Joanne) Haugen, Vance (Kris) Haugen; eighteen grandchildren; thirty seven great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and six sister-in-law’s, Gloria York, Beverly Haugen, Joan Haugen, Shirley Eck, Lorraine Eck and Carolyn Eck.

Marcine was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Eck; husband of sixty four years, Warren Haugen; granddaughter Nicole Fogg; brothers Willis, Dennis, Donald, Darrell, Courtney; sisters Shirley Hastings and Opal Cope.
