Marcella was born on August 11, 1932, in Sisseton, South Dakota, to Leo and Mildred (Tostenson) Vogel. She attended a rural country school near Sisseton.
On March 15, 1951, Marcella married Melvin Enstad in Sisseton. Together they made their home on a farm near Pierpont, before moving to Watertown in 2011.
Following her marriage, Marcella became a member of Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont and later became a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.
Marcella found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as playing cards and Bingo. She loved listening to country music and her favorite radio program was Country Legends Jukebox with Jay Dean, which she faithfully listened to weekly. Marcella loved baking and cooking, and she had a gift for fine-tuning recipes with plenty of cream and butter. She also loved making Christmas cookies, collecting cookbooks and her Sunday chicken dinners brought everyone together around the table. Marcella was known for keeping a close eye on the weather, especially when storms threatened the communities where her loved ones lived. It was just one of the many ways she showed how deeply she cared.
Family was the center of Marcella’s life. She was famous for remembering every birthday, anniversary, holiday, and milestone with a thoughtful card. Over the years, she mailed thousands of cards, never wanting anyone to feel forgotten. Her grandchildren eagerly looked forward to receiving the special two-dollar bill she always tucked inside each birthday card.
Marcella was immensely proud of her family and cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her quiet kindness, generous heart, and unwavering love will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Keith (Lyn) Enstad of Watertown, Marcia Erz of Burnsville, Minnesota, Dean (Lori) Enstad of Watertown, Douglas (Jolene) Enstad of Watertown, and Glenn (Janet) Enstad of Aberdeen; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her brother, Louis Vogel of Sisseton.
Marcella was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin; her daughter-in-law, Marlys; her parents; five sisters; her great-grandson, Landon Kolb; and her great-granddaughter, Shadow Billeter.
Arrangements are entrusted to Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel of Watertown and Hayti
