Lois Bateman Obituary

Lois Marie Bateman, age 84, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2020 under Hospice Care at Jenkins Living Center. She became a resident of Jenkins 5 years ago after a stroke left her paralyzed on her right side and able to speak only a few words.

Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.

Lois was born on the family farm near Henry, SD on February, 13, 1936 to Henry and Marie Redmond Goodman. She attended school in Watertown and graduated from High School in 1954. She worked at Krieser's Rexall Drug until she married Ralph L. Bateman in 1975 at The Plateau Wedding Chapel in Watertown, SD.

Ralph soon retired as a Captain with the Merchant Marines and they traveled much of the US, especially the Mid West, making many trips to Wisconsin to see the leaves change in the Fall. They were avid collectors and loved attending farm auctions in the area. Together, Lois and Ralph shared a common interest and appreciation for Native American history and culture.

Lois is survived by her nieces and their families, Kathy Goodman of Beaver Creek, OH, Laurie Brandriet Keller (Ron) of Watertown, SD, Colleen Goodman Forkel (Les) of Ipswich, SD, Roxy Goodman Hilgenberg of Ipswich, SD, Karmalee Goodman Young of Gilette, WY and Gentrie Goodman Lemerond (Mark) of Sidney, MT, and her nephews and their families, Doug (Jindra) Goodman of San Jose, CA, and Randy Brandriet

(Mari Nelson) of Pierre, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Step Father, Clifford Van Sickle, her husband, her sister, Shirley Goodman Brandriet, her brothers Richard, Lee, and Ellis Goodman, her step brothers Richard "Lee" and Raymond Van Sickle, her step sister Lorrayne Nickels, and her niece, Wendy Brandriet Barrios.

Lois's family would like to thank her Prairie Lakes Hospice care team and all of the staff at Jenkins Living Center for the love, care, and respect she was always shown. May she rest in peace and may God bless all of you.
