Liam Koistinen Obituary

Liam Jeffrey Koistinen, age 17 months, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be held at the Crawford Osthus Funeral Chapel, 1311 4th St NE, Watertown, SD, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be at the New Life Evangelical Free Church, 1530 N Hwy 20, Watertown, SD, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be Live-Streamed via the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel FaceBook page as well as our website.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Paul Weiss, Bryan Crocker, Brandon Koistinen and Zachery Morales.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Midwest Bible Camp, PO Box 545, Watertown, SD, because of the children’s missionary work they do in the Philippines (because his mother is Philipina).

Liam was born in Tucson, AZ, on February 1, 2020, to Jeff and Genevie (Suyu) Koistinen. Liam was our miracle baby and spent two weeks in the NICU in Tucson, AZ, due to difficult child birth.  Thanks to the many prayers we received, Liam was released.

Liam was such a happy baby. His laugh would fill the room, such a full belly laugh. You could not help but laugh with him. Liam loved cars and trucks, just like his dad. His first word said every morning was car.  Liam enjoyed watching CocoMelon and Baby Shark.

Liam was a very curious boy. He was observant and liked to inspect everything around him.  He quickly learned how things worked by pressing buttons.

Liam would love to take Dad’s remote control and subscribe to Apple Music.

Liam was his mom and dad’s world.

Liam is survived by his father, Jeff, and mother, Genevie Koistinen of Marana, AZ; siblings: Nicole (Michael) Moseley of Tucson, AZ, Brandon Koistinen of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Brooke Koistinen of Tucson, AZ; grandparents, Chet (Joyce) Koistinen of Watertown, SD, and grandmother, Lorna (Darilag) Suyu of Tuguegarao City, Philippines.

Liam was preceded in death by his grandfather, Domingo Suyu; grandmother, Linda (Mercer) Koistinen; and uncle, Jerry Koistinen.
