Funeral services for Larry G. Sour, age 69, of Lake Norden, SD will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 in the New Hope Church, rural Hayti, SD. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. Larry passed away on April 28, 2007 at a hospital in Watertown, SD. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hayti, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry's twelve nieces. Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Robert Sour, Bob Truman, Jim Truman, Bill Truman, Scott Popham, and Chad Popham. Music will be provided by Helen Prouty, organist and Judy Everson, soloist. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Hayti, SD on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday preceding services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service. Larry was born on March 17, 1938 on a farm near Bryant, SD to Robert and Evelyn (Flavin) Sour. He attended Dixon #4 rural school and graduated from Hayti High School in 1956. He was also a graduate of South Dakota State University in 1960. Following graduation, he worked in Chicago, IL for a few years, was employed by the Federal Government in Washington D.C. for many years, and then returned to Lake Norden in 1989. He resided there at the Lake Norden Care Center until his death. Larry had muscular dystrophy since his early teens. Larry loved farming, bird watching, playing cards, working with his investments, and was a loyal Redskins fan. Larry is survived by three brothers: Richard and his wife, Sue Sour, of Sun City West, AZ, Charles and his wife, Betty Sour, of Hazel, SD, and his twin, Jerry and his wife, Marilynn Sour, of Watertown, SD; three sisters: Donna Truman of Beresford, SD, Phyllis Kitterman of Dallas, TX, and Marlys and her husband, Gene Popham, of Watertown, and eighteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn.
