Larry D. Guderian

Larry D. Guderian, age 63, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.  Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate.  The funeral service will be live-streamed and recorded via our website.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday.

Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, South Shore, SD. Active pallbearers will be Jesse Honetschlager, Brett Moffenbier, Hunter Casper, Dominic Barnes, Mike Nelson, Neil Nelson, and Tony Welbig. 

Larry David Guderian was born on February 15, 1963, in Watertown, South Dakota, to David and Carol (Krueger) Guderian. As a young child, Larry grew up in South Shore, briefly lived in California before moving to Minneapolis. They later returned to South Dakota, where Larry attended Grant Elementary School in Watertown before he started trucking.

From a young age, Larry admired his father and knew he wanted to become a truck driver. At just 16 years old, he began driving alongside his father, launching what would become a lifelong career on the open road. Over the years, Larry hauled many different types of loads and became a skilled over-the-road truck driver. During the 1990s, he owned and operated his own truck for approximately 15 years before returning to company driving. Throughout his career, he worked for several trucking companies, including Dave Thompson Trucking, Watertown Elevator, and H & I Grain.

Larry married Rose Reitz and the couple raised three children together while living in Estelline, SD. 

Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known to be a joker to make people laugh.

Larry is survived by his children, Kasey (Tony) Welbig, of Dell Rapids, SD, Kayla Guderian, and Travis Guderian, both of Watertown, SD; one brother, Randy Guderian, of Kranzburg, SD; and nine grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lori Nelson; brother-in-law, Darrell Nelson; and sister-in-law, Darla (Stricherz) Guderian.
