Kim Stimson, age 65, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his residence.
Kim David Stimson was born August, 8, 1956 in Flandreau, South Dakota to Melvin S. and Gertrude M. Stimson. Following his graduation from FHS he worked several years for 3M in Brookings until learning Computer Aided Drawing at Lake Area Technical College in Watertown. Kim then used his new skills to work for Daktronics in Brookings until he joined Crenio Engineering Cabs in Watertown. He continued to live and work in Watertown and more recently worked for Casey's. Due to issues with his health and potential Covid exposure he decided to retired and unexpectedly went to meet his Savior on January 22, 2022. Kim had early in his life experienced two open heart surgeries which required valve replacements.
Kim was a pet lover that included several cats and a Dorgi dog he called Gertie, which I'm sure his mother, Gertrude, would not have approved. His current cat companion is named Coco, which he claimed was not very civilized. He loved his family and enjoyed his friends and was a regular at the Monday night Cribbage club in Watertown, where they also exchanged a bit of B.S. One of his club friends described him, "as fun to banter with and having a sarcastic sense of humor". Kim was very close to his big sister Becky and one summer, while Dick and Becky were with the Air Force, he spent time with them touring and camping around Europe.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Becky Jo Fuhs, and his brother Keith. He is survived by his brother Howard and wife Jean, Dick and Sandi Fuhs, six lovely nieces, Leslie, Jody, Robin, Tammy, Cathy, Laurie, two nephews, Troy, Jeff and his Kitty, Coco.
A memorial service for Kim is planned for later at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.
Memorials may be directed to the Glacial Lakes Humane Society.
