Ken was born on February 25, 1952, to Gilbert and Doris (Emmert) Kittelson, in Watertown, SD. He was a 1970 graduate of Watertown High School, where he was very active in FFA throughout his life. He was a State FFA Officer in 1970-1971. In 1973 he received his American Farmer degree in FFA. He moved to the farm when he was 14 years old and started farming; and he started milking cows after graduating. On June 16, 1973, Ken was united in marriage to Glenda Ommen in Watertown. He and Glenda raised their four children while farming his whole life in the Henry area. They ran a dairy for 25 years until 1995. They also ran trucks over the road for quite some time. Ken and Glenda started running the Henry Café and later developed the Old Windmill Restaurant and Bar, which they ran for several years. After selling the restaurant they started catering. Their very first catering that they did was their daughter's wedding. He was a member of the Watertown Christian Church. Ken enjoyed collecting old signs, toys, and John Deere 2-cycle tractors. He loved hosting family gatherings and feeding people. You never left his place hungry.

Ken and Glenda wintered in Quartzsite, AZ for several years and really enjoyed their time there. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ken is survived by his wife, Glenda, of Henry, SD; his children: Heath Kittelson of Clark/Henry, SD, Travis (Leah) Kittelson and their children, Wyatt and Madeline, of Henry, SD, Laura (David) Leheska and their children, Tyler, Luke, Sienna, and Grant, of Chamberlain, SD, Matt (Brandi) Kittelson and their children, Colton, Cooper, and Clayton, of Henry, SD; his mother, Doris Quigley of Watertown, SD; his brother, Steve (Cindy) Kittelson of Henry, SD; his sisters, Connie (Rick) Masloski of Watertown, SD and Cindy Engels of Brandon, SD; his step-mother Joan Kittelson of Watertown, SD; his father-in-law, Melvin (Mick) Ommen of Henry, SD; his sister-in-law, Deb (Bob) Hallauer of Henry, SD; many aunts and uncles, cousins, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Gilbert Kittelson; several uncles and his mother-in-law, Jelaine Ommen.
