Katherine “Kathy” K. Raml, age 75, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at a local care center. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, and prior to services at the chapel on Monday.
Burial will be at Goodwin Cemetery, Goodwin, SD. Active Urnbearers will be Aaron Garcia, Dakota Staples, Lukas Brandlee, Jason Kalsbeck and Rylan Miller.
Kathy was born on December 21, 1949, in Sacramento, CA, to Rodney Swartz and Lorraine (Carl) Dahlin. She graduated from North Highlands High School with the class of 1968, she then went on to obtain an AA Degree in Business from Yuba Community College.
On January 4, 1969, Kathy married Dennis Raml in Carson City, NV. Dennis was currently serving in the United States Air Force and Kathy spent 26 years as a dedicated loving military wife moving all over the world. The couple lived in Germany, where Kathy ran her own home daycare and taught cake decorating classes, New York where she worked at the base BX/Four Seasons Store, Nebraska where Kathy worked at Hancock Fabrics and Offuff Credit Union, California where she worked as the Sierra Credit Union, Yuba County Department of Social Services. They couple also lived in Arkansas and South Carolina.
Upon retiring they moved back to South Dakota where she worked at Walmart, Jenkins Living Center, Livingston Insurance, and Rising Star Quilt Shop. Kathy had several hobbies and passions but to list a few, family time, quilting, sewing, crafting, ceramics, and reading. Kathy was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where she was a CCD teacher. She was also a member of the Prairie Star Quilting Guild, Girl Scout Leader, Wheatland High School Booster Club-Grad Night, and a campground host for the states of South Dakota and California. Her favorite past time was loving and supporting her grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life. If Kathy met you once, you were a friend for life.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Watertown; children Karla Raml, of Watertown, Darla (Evan) Brandlee, of Watertown, and Denise (Kevin) Miller of Strandburg; one sister, Toni (Lance) Darling, of Folsom, CA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, father Carl Dahlin and mother Lorraine Dahlin-Risner, step-father Tom Risner; sister, Mary Dahlin; brother Richard Dahlin; in-laws Killian and Emma Raml; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elmira and Jim Ruhr, brother-in-law and sister-in law, Arvis and Dorett Raml.
