Karen E. Cook, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the local hospital. A private family service will take place at a later date.
Karen was born on June 13, 1943, in Monroe, WI, to Claude and Sylvia (Weber) Moore. She attended school, and graduated from Evansville High School in Evansville, WI, in 1961.
On October 6, 1962, she married Steven Cook in Evansville, WI. She was employed in Evansville, until she started raising her family. In 2000, they moved to rural Strandburg, SD, where she resided until her death.
Karen loved road trips to the Black Hills, and sight-seeing. She was an avid fan of the soap opera “Days of our Lives”. She enjoyed quilting, photography, baking, puzzles books, and just about anything that was educational. She especially loved holidays, time spent with her family, and her kitty, Sami. Karen’s favorite flower was the Iris.
Karen is survived by her husband, Steven Cook, of Strandburg, SD; her children: Shane Cook, of Stockholm, SD, Shona Wittenwyler, of Monroe, WI, and Shara Cook, of Stockholm, SD; four grandchildren: Shannon Mansfield, Karrin Sweeney, Kirsten Sweeney, and Matt March; three great-grandchildren: Ainsley Nelson, Bodi Mansfield, and Josephine March; her brother, James Moore, of Janesville, WI; her sister, Pat Langus, of Jasnesville, WI; brothers-in-law: Jim (Marilyn) Cook, of Evansville, WI, and Donald Cook, of Janesville, WI; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved kitty, Sami.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Virginia.
