Judy Phipps

Judith K. (Krause Swartz) Phipps, age 80, of Watertown, SD, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Avantara Nursing Home, Lake Norden, SD surrounded by family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Cornerstone Church in Watertown. Pastor Mark Tracy will officiate.  This service will be live streamed via our website.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 5-7pm at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD.  Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Kosier, Mountain Takers Bible Study Group, Nicole Theron, and Michele Kruse.  Active pallbearers will be Dan Krause, Rodney Krause, Mike Krause, Bryan Krause, Tim Kruse, Logan Leiblie, Matthew Leiblie, and Bradey Leiblie.

Judy was born September 7, 1943, in Watertown, SD, to Larry and Betty (Glendening) Krause. She was raised in and attended Watertown High School.

Judy worked many jobs over the years but most was spent waitressing. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies VFW #750. Strong in her faith and love for the Lord, she was an active member of Cornerstone Church, where she loved her Mountain Takers Bible Study Class. Because of her love for children and youth, she mentored at McKinley Elementary School and enjoyed visits from the Cornerstone Youth Group.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Shelly Swartz (Michael) Leiblie of Cumming, GA and three grandsons: Matthew, Bradey and Logan (Samantha) Leiblie, all of Cumming, GA; one brother, Kevin (Pam) Krause of Watertown, MN; one brother-in-law, Vince Spilde of Wyoming; stepson, Lonnie (Susie) Phipps and one stepdaughter LaShawn Phipps (Mike) Farthing both of Watertown; Farrel (Linda) Jacobsen of Badger; Marion Jacobsen (Bob) Carlson of Lake Norden; Erma Jacobsen (Alan) Neftalis of Florida; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Krause; sister, Sharron Krause Spilde and the love of her life, Neil Jacobsen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cornerstone Church Youth Group.
