John “Jack” William Rybak, 83, passed away peacefully at Avera Hospital surrounded by family on October 9, 2025.
Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus/Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the funeral home from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Hetland City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus/Johnson-Henry Funeral Home.
Jack was born on May 20, 1942, in New Brighton, Minnesota to John and Florence Rybak. Jack married Barbara Tolzin on May 3, 1969, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Though he grew up in the city, he found his true home on the quiet plains of South Dakota. A hard worker with a steady hand and generous heart, Jack spent his life building — both through his longtime career in construction and as the proud owner of Rybak Construction, which he ran for many years.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He was also a skilled hunting dog trainer, known for his patience and deep connection with the animals he worked with.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gerald and James.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barb (Tolzin) Rybak; his children, Becky Rybak (Alen Henricks) of Watertown, SD, Katie (Marc) Brennan of Eden Prairie, MN, and John Rybak (Azure Olson) of Sioux Falls; and his cherished grandchildren, Max Davis, Sam Davis, Olive Brennan, and Otis Brennan, Evan Hurtado and his sister Marlene Johnson of Anoka, MN.
Jack will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering dedication to family and hard work.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus/Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel, of Arlington.
