Joan M. Bork, age 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at a local hospital. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Jesse Hurkes will officiate. The funeral service will be live streamed via our website.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Revillo Cemetery in Revillo, SD.
Joan Meridith Bork was born on September 19, 1945, at Madison, MN, to Hollis and Evelyn (Erickson) Bork. She attended school at Antelope Valley District #2 of rural Marietta, MN and graduated from Revillo High School in Revillo, SD in 1963. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Revillo, SD.
She resided in Minneapolis, MN from 1963-1976, where she was employed at J.C. Penney Regional Credit Office and Goodman Jewelers.
Joan moved to Watertown, SD, in 1976 and was employed at Larry's Lumber, INC., until failing eyesight prevented her from continuing her job as their bookkeeper.
Joan was a member of the Cornerstone Church where she was active in the Cornerstone Film Study Group, and Woman's Bible Study, Prairie Lakes Hospital Auxiliary, The South Dakota Association of the Blind, Vision Support Group, and The Watertown Regional Genealogical Society.
Joan is survived by one brother, William Bork and special friend Donna of Marietta, MN; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carolyn McLaughlin of Fargo, ND, and Mary and Thomas Oldroyd of Cambridge, MN; brother Doug's wife Cindy Bork, nieces and nephews, Larry and Kate Bork, Lonnie and Joy Bork, LaRae and Rick Holland, Jon and Marcy Bork, Becky and Tim Wartner, Matthew and Alexis Oldroyd, Nathan and Bridgette Bork and Kelly and Dustin Kallhoff; Grand nieces and nephews, Jed, Coltin, Tucker, Maci, Dillon, Mikaela, Bailey, Shaelyn, Lana, Owen, Joe, Morgean, Parker, and Laney; uncle Roger Erickson and aunt Elaine Dohrer; special brother and sister Dean and Dianne Johnson and special cousin Brenda Glover.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Hollis and Evelyn, brother Douglas Bork, sister-in-law Sharon Bork, brother-in-law Jim McLaughlin.
