Jeanette Moes

Jeanette Moes, age 86, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at The Village of Harmony Hill.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Kuckhahn will officiate.  Matt Weseloh will be the organist. The funeral service will be live-streamed via our website.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Active pallbearers will be Jon Lenning, Mike Lenning, Dan Beutow, Ian Madsen, Rick Grothaus, and Joel Beutow. 

Jeanette was born on April 8, 1938, to Arthur and Anna (Noeldner) Borns. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Shore. She was confirmed at St. John’s Church in Rauville. She moved at an early age with hers parents to a farm north of Watertown. She married John Moes, June 6, 1960, in Madison, SD.

As a stay-at-home mother, Jeanette poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home for her children. Her kitchen was often filled with the sweet aroma of baked goods and the sound of her children's laughter. Later, the sound of her grandchildren’s laughter filled her home. She loved spending her time gardening, baking, and with her grandchildren and puppy, Kip.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Jody Bull of Groton, SD; Jeff (Kim) Moes of Canby, MN; and Jan (Rick Grothaus) Lenning of Watertown, SD; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
