James S. Goble

James S. Goble, age 82, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at his residence in Watertown.  Memorial services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown with lunch to follow.  Pastor Carlene Rhody will officiate.

Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service at the church starting at 11:00 a.m.  Honorary Urnbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James was born on May 24, 1942 to Lloyd and Rosemary Goble in Grand Marais, MN. 

On May 25, 1974, James married Sharon Wallace in Minnesota.  To that union the couple raised five children. 

James worked at Smith Equipment for 29 years.  He was transferred to Watertown in 1982 and he ended his working career as a chemist for the Minneapolis Airport.

James enjoyed wood working, camping, fishing, hunting, and painting landscapes. He enjoyed every moment with his family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Sharon; one son, Elroy; two daughters, Donna and Becky; two sisters, Judy and Janie; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. 

James was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary; one daughter, Kim; one son-in-law, Lynn; one grandson, Christopher; and one brother, John.
