Ilene Paulsen Obituary
Ilene O. Paulsen, age 95, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the hospital in Watertown.
She was the widow of Earl "Pat" Paulsen.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.
Rev. Kathy Hibbert will officiate.
Music will be provided by Char and Duane Peterson as vocalists accompanied by Dorothy Fuller.
The family is requested to meet at the church on Thursday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Naples Cemetery, Naples, SD.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ilene's great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Ilene's grandchildren: Jeff Mischke, Todd Mischke, Scott Paulsen, Ryan Paulsen, Chris Isaacson, Morris Rau, Terry Aman, Amy Rau, Heidi Aman, Kelsey Isaacson, Jennifer Mischke and Lu-Chin Mischke.
Ilene was born on February 17, 1921, in rural Naples, SD, to Ingvald and Lena (Pederson) Christianson.
She graduated from Henry High School, Henry, SD.
On June 6, 1942, Ilene married Earl "Pat" Paulsen at Naples, SD. Following their marriage, the couple lived briefly on farms in rural Henry and Elrod, SD.
In 1947, they moved to a farm north of Hazel, SD, and lived there until moving to Watertown in 1995.
She was a long time member of Naples Lutheran Church and in later years, she became a member of Grace Lutheran Church and most recently Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
Ilene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting afghans and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Ilene is survived by two children, Earlene (Norman) Mischke of Plymouth, MN, and Morris (Karen) Paulsen of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Jeanette (Harold) Hansen of Watertown, LaVonne (Darrell) Oleson of Owatonna, MN, and Delores O'Neill of Watertown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; one brother, Norris; and one sister, Clarice Severson.
