Hobart “John” was born to Floyd and Ardis (Taylor) McNames on October 22, 1954, in Madison, South Dakota.
Hobart was a talented athlete who excelled at baseball, football, and basketball. Alongside his brother Bob, Hobart started a successful concrete business, which he operated for over 20 years. In his free time, he found joy in the outdoors, whether hunting on the family farm or fishing in his pond.
Hobart was a proud father and grandfather, rarely missing a basketball game or a marching band performance. He had an adventurous spirit, traveling to Florida, California, New Zealand and, most recently, an Alaskan cruise with his family. Hobart had a keen sense of humor, always armed with a wise crack and a wry grin.
Grateful to carry on Hobart‘s generous and loving spirit are his children, Melissa Gronseth (Dan) and Josh McNames; his grandchildren, Caleb Rector, Meg Rector, Sam Rector, Ella McNames and Owen McNames; his siblings, Marilyn Rohrer (Larry), Kate Foley (Dick), Nancy Keever (Tom), and Bob McNames (Cindy); as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews
Hobart is reunited in peace with his parents, Floyd and Ardis McNames, his son-in-law, Matt Ellefson, and his cherished friend, Cindy Jordan.
