Helen de l'Etoile Cunningham, age 73, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at the local hospital. Private family funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Jodi Engels will officiate. This will be Live-Streamed on our website.
Honorary pallbearers are: Shawn LeVeque, Danny LeVeque, Ann LeVeque, Tracy LeVeque and Helen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be her children: Tammy Rader, Tim (Timmy) LeVeque, Brent LeVeque and Shannon LeVeque.
Helen was born on October 19, 1946, to Nelson and Patricia (Weagant) Cunningham, in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Ft. Wayne Central Catholic High School in Ft. Wayne. On September 3, 1968, Helen was united in marriage to Melvin LeVeque. They moved to Montana in 1972 and to South Dakota in 1992. Helen lived in South Shore, Castlewood and finally Watertown. Melvin passed away in 1979.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, listening to music and growing plants. She loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her children: Tim (Ann) LeVeque of Laurel, MT, Shannon LeVeque (Maral) of Watertown, SD, Tammy Rader of Watertown, SD and Brent (Tracy) LeVeque of Nahunta, GA; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy (Cheryl) Cunningham, of Ft. Wayne, IN; and two sisters, Dale Ann (Jim) Becher of Ft. Wayne, IN and Mary Ann (Brian) Becker of Auburn, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Shawn and Danny; her brother, Bruce; and her companion, Butch.
