Harlow Ostenvik Obituary
Harlow F. Ostenvik, age 84, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Hospital. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dan Overbo will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 12:30 p.m. for a prayer service. The funeral service will be livestreamed via our website.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown prior to services.
Honorary Urnbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Military honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown and Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard.
Harlow was born on July 16, 1939, in Ulen, MN, to Rasmus and Alma (Jellum) Ostenvik. He attended Ulen High School and graduated in 1957.
On September 2, 1961, Harlow married Gloria Johnson. Harlow served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked much of his life driving truck for various companies. He and Gloria lived most of their married life in Watertown, SD.
Through the years Harlow enjoyed camping, going on bus trips, watching Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, Western movies and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Harlow is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Watertown; two daughters, Brenda (Jeffrey) Appel, Heron Lake, MN, Lisa (Darren) Saner, Slayton, MN; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Appel, Bigelow, MN, Melissa (Derek) Schmidt, Lennox, SD, Kyle (Kiah) Saner, Lewisville, TX; three great-grandchildren, Carsyn Schmidt, Ayden Schmidt, Tharyn Schmidt; two sisters, Jane Cramer, Ruby Barquest; and many nieces and nephews.
Harlow was preceded in death by his parents, Rasmus and Alma (Jellum) Ostenvik; two sisters, Ardis Larson and Darlene Wasfaret.
