On May 17, 1999, Hallie Mae was born to Jared and Darcie (Ries) Tolzin in Watertown, SD. She was raised on a farm south of De Smet, and graduated from De Smet High School in 2017 where she was active in band, FFA, and volleyball. Hallie attended South Dakota State University for a year before transferring to Lake Area Technical Institute where she double majored in Ag Marketing and Agronomy. After college graduation, she moved to Big Stone City, SD, where she met the love of her life, Justin Stallman. Her independent and strong-willed nature made the two a perfect match. Hallie and Justin were united in marriage on May 3, 2025, at American Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD.
Hallie was determined, caring, and so full of love. When she was little and while growing up, she was always a mother hen, protecting and making sure her brothers were loved and taken care of. Her family, friends, and three dogs: Rosco, Moose, and Gracie meant the world to her. She also adored her 20+ chickens, all of which she named and knew well. Hallie worked hard and loved her job at West-Con in Twin Brooks, SD, as well as her co-workers. Whether the job was scooping bins, loading and driving trains, or simply chatting with the farmers, Hallie was always happy to do it. Outside of work, she loved wildflowers, always winning from gun raffles to bingo prizes, anything purple, and even learned to love ice fishing with Justin. Hallie also loved her music- being in control of the radio and attending concerts with her loved ones.
Hallie is survived by her husband, Justin Stallman of Browns Valley, MN; parents, Jared and Darcie Tolzin of De Smet, SD; brothers, Jackson Claire and Tanner Jared Tolzin of De Smet, SD; grandparents: Richard (Neda) Ries of Castlewood, SD, and Jeanne (Michael) Denevan of De Smet, SD; uncles and aunts: Justin (Shantel) Ries of Castlewood, SD, Erin (Matthew) Engelbrecht of Clear Lake, SD, Jennifer Block of Castlewood, SD, and Jessica (Darin) Wilde of Hartford, SD; parents-in-law, Jeff (Marilynn) Stallman of Donnelly, MN; sister-in-law, Sara (Tim) Smith of Morris, MN; nephew, Hudson Smith; grandparents-in-law, Jim (Linda) Stallman of Browns Valley, MN; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents: Della Aronson, Jerome (Marie) Mack, and Claire (Marie) Langland.
