Gordon Fredrick Hein, age 86, of Alcester, SD, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2015,
at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 1:00 p.m. for a prayer service.
Gordon was born on September 14, 1928, in Cleveland, OH, to Edward and Margaret (Dupiour) Hein. Gordon was a very good, hard working man. He was a bricklayer his entire life and was the first to ever build a twisted chimney.
On May 20, 1950, Gordon married Dorothy Vavrek in Lakewood, OH. The couple raised their children in Brooklyn, OH. After he retired they moved to Alcester, SD.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Bricklayers Union #5 in Cleveland.
Gordon spent most of his retired days fishing, enjoying his family and friends, and his dogs.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy, of Watertown; one son, Gordon F. Hein Jr., of Redfield; four daughters: Phyllis (Nicolas) Sekerak of Brunswick, OH, Gail Hein of Largo, FL, Natalie Nelson, of Watertown and Bonnie (Frank) Brandt of Alcester; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles "Dutch" (Nancy) Hein, of Brunswick, OH; one sister, Alice Toler, of
Bentonville, AR; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Edward Hein, George Hein, John Hein and Daniel Hein; three sisters: Margret Louise Hein, Louis Laux and Margret Balder; and one great-grandchild.
