Gerald "Gary" E. Geiszler, age 71, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Pastor Benjamin Radtke will officiate. Music will provided by Julie Sulzle as organist.
Visitation will be at the church starting at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gary’s best friend, Jay Long. Active Pallbearers will be DJ York, Joe Haider, Tyler Haider, Myles York, Darrell Crider, and Dylan Duvall.
Gary was born on October 9, 1953, in Watertown, SD, to Enock and Maeta (Hoops) Geiszler. He grew up in Watertown and attended school in Watertown until the 9th grade when he went to Mobridge, SD, to attend Mobridge Northwestern Lutheran Academy. Gary finished his senior year at Watertown High School, graduated in 1972. Following high school graduation, Gary enlisted in the South Dakota Army National Guard serving for twenty years.
Gary worked for his sister and brother-in-law’s business for several years, Duane’s Floor Covering. He then went on to work at Oak Valley Farms among other jobs until his retirement. Gary found his dream job in retirement working for County Fair as the delivery driver. He enjoyed watching his son play sports.
On July 5, 2008, Gary married, the love of his life, Jennifer Hoffman at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown and with this marriage came along a wonderful son, Cameron.
Gary enjoyed several hobbies throughout his life. In Gary’s younger years he enjoyed hunting with his dad and brother-in-law Duane. He enjoyed calling bingo, camping, gardening, bowling, building model cars, solving Sudoku puzzles, and working on cars in his spare time. Gary had a love for all animals as well.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jennifer, of Watertown; his son, Cameron, of Watertown; two sisters, Linda Luebchow, of Maplewood, MN, and Nancy York, of Watertown; father-in-law, Tom (Becky) Hoffman, of Magnolia, TX; sister-in-law, Lauren Koenst, of Watertown; nieces, Lisa (Joe) Haider, of Watertown, Erin (Darrell) Crider, of North St. Paul, MN, Joelle (Tark) Spannbauer, of Lakeville, MN, and Michelle York, of Watertown; one nephew, DJ (Janet) York, of Watertown; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Duane York, and Roderick Luebchow; one nephew, Andy York; and one great-niece, Susannah Crider.
